Illinois Drivers Permit Information
To get your drivers license in Illinois, you need to apply for a regular Class D drivers license. You must have an Illinois license within ninety (90) days of establishing residency. You must give up any other Drivers License that you have previously held from any other State.

18 years and under (Graduated Driver License - GDL)

You must be 15 years of age.

Parent or Legal Guardian consent.

Must have illinois drivers ed.

Fifty (50) hours of driving experience which shall include ten (10) hours of night driving.

Initial Licensing Phase

You must have held a Permit (see above) for at least nine (9) months.
