How to Replace Your Lost Georgia Drivers License
If you've been a victim of theft, or you've accidentally lost your drivers license, or maybe you've destroyed your license, you'll need to file for a replacement right away. If you have access to a credit or debit card, you may use the instructions for replacing your license online. If not, you'll need to visit a customer service center and present your proof of identification documents. In either case, we've outlined the instructions below.

Online
As a Georgia resident, you may take advantage of the convenience of ordering your duplicate online. However, you must meet the following requirements:
Requirements to Replace Lost License Online

This online service is not available for commercial driver licenses. Only non commercial, Learner Permit, or ID holders may proceed.

Your drivers license must be active. It must not be on any suspension, revocation, or cancellation. However, ID and Permits may be replaced under any status.

You cannot replace your license more than three (3) times per year.

You must be a resident of the state of Georgia and you must be a U.S. Citizen.
Steps

Begin by visiting the following website.

You'll be required to create an online account with the GA DDS.

Make sure to have a credit card handy to pay the replacement cost. Allowed credit cards are Discover, MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo are also accepted.

Upon completion, your new license will be mailed and should arrive in less than one (1) week. Online address changes are also allowed at this time. If you do decide to change your address, it must be verified with the USPS, and your new license will take between two (2) and three (3) weeks to arrive.

Documents needed to replace your Georgia Drivers License
Note: No copies or Faxes. All documents must be originals.
Show one (1) of the following Category A Documents

Birth Certificate (Must be original). If you would like to show a copy, it must be certified, and must have a raised or impressed seal.

Birth registration (must be certified).

Adoption, sex change or name change court records (must be certified)

Naturalization papers (must be certified).

Immigration card.

Active Passport (must be valid).

Military identification card.

if you are not a U.S. citizen you must show your active foreign passport with I-94 form or stamp. Or bring your green card (I-688 or I-551), or an employment authorization card (I-776, I-688A, I-688B).
OR Show two (2) of the following Category B Documents

Social Security Card (must be original one).

Marriage certificate copy (must be certified). Not all same sex marriages will be allowed.

Income Tax Return (of Previous Year)

An active insurance policy (can be home, or auto, or life or health insurance).
