Ohio Drivers License Information

To get your drivers license in Ohio, you need to apply for a regular Class D drivers license. You must have an Ohio license immediately upon establishing Ohio residency. There is no grace period! You must carry your license at all times. 

Ohio Drivers License Requirements

18 years and under  

  • Temporary Permit 

    • You must be between at least 15 years and 1/2 old.
    • Must drive with Parent or Legal Guardian.

  • Probationary driver license

    • You must be between at least 16 years old.
    • Must have held Temporary Permit (see above) for at least six (6) months.
    • Must have ohio drivers ed.

18 years and over

  • Full Class D Drivers License
