Louisiana Drivers License Information

To get your drivers license in  Louisiana, you need to apply for a Class E drivers license which is also known as a Personal Vehicle Driver's License. You must have a Louisiana license within 30 days of establishing residency.

Louisiana Drivers License Requirements

18 years and under 

  • First Time Class E

    • You must be at least 17 years old.
    • Drivers Education Course.
    • Parent or Legal guardian 

  • Class E Intermediate License

    • You must be 16 years of age.
    • Must have had a Learners Permit (See Below)
    • Parent or Legal guardian 

  • Learner's Permit 17 years of age

    • You must be 17 years of age.
    • Parent or Legal guardian 
    • Drivers Education required

  • Learner's Permit 16 years of age

    • You must be 16 years of age.
    • Parent or Legal guardian 
    • Drivers Education required

  • Learner's Permit 15 years of age

    • You must be 15 years of age.
    • Parent or Legal guardian 
    • Drivers Education required
