I live in North Dakota and am 16, need operators license now, can’t wait 6 months for permit
The state of North Dakota allows drivers to get their first license at the age of fifteen (15). This is one of the youngest in the nation. However, there is one exception to this rule. Only residents of the state of North Dakota are allowed to apply for a restricted drivers license at age 15. All other drivers must wait until they are sixteen (16) years old. Driving as a teenager requires proper training and it’s very important that young drivers learn how to drive and control a vehicle.
Accidents involving teens in car crashes are quite significant. Between the years of 2001 and 2009, there were a total of 173 teens that died in car accidents. The two most common reasons for accidents were due to distraction and too much speed. That’s why North Dakota makes it a law for drivers of age sixteen (16) and seventeen (17) to hold an instruction permit for at least six (6) months before obtaining a regular operator driver’s license. Drivers who are younger (ages 14 or 15) must hold the permit for at least one (1) year.
