New Mexico Drivers License Address Change Information
You are breaking the law by possessing a license with an address that is not current. The state will only give you ten (10) days for you to formally make the change. It's very important that you make this change. Not only is it a violation but you will miss important updates about your license that are sometimes sent by mail.
You can conveniently update your address by mail or fax, but if you wish to have a new license that shows your new address, your only option is to show up In Person (read below).
By Mail or Fax
Steps:
To complete this process via mail, follow the steps:

Download and fill the change of address request form.

You'll need to enter your name, birth date, SSN, license number, vehicle plate numbers, vehicle year, vehicle make, your old and new address.

You must sign the application or the address change will not take effect.

After you complete and mail the above form, the MVD will update their system.

If you elect to pay for a new license (that shows your new address), it will be given to you.
Cost for New Mexico Drivers License Address Change
Changing your address is free. However, if you would like your license to show your new address, you will need to go In Person (read above) and apply for a new one.
The cost is $18.00 for a four (4) year license. OR
The cost is $34.00 for an eight (8) year license.
